BELINDA OG GYÐA (2011) (Belinda and Goddess)

Belinda and Goddess are dramatic, elegant and complicated creatures. Fair features, fleshy, fuzzy and shiny. They are wild with sinuous limbs and long necks. Well behaved but unpredictable, wary and intellegent. Conciderate, caring and erotic. They are healthy, fertile and fun loving goddesses.

Choreography and performance:  Sveinbjörg Þórhallsdóttir and Steinunn Ketilsdóttir
Music: Andrea Gylfadóttir
Costumes: Jóní Jónsdóttir
Lights: Jóhann Jóhannsson

Premiered at the Reykjavík Dance Festival 2011

Nominated for The Icelandic Theatre Awards in 2012

REVIEWS“The work deals in a humorous way with women and mares.  Poise, charm, jealousy and friendship came into play. Belinda and Goddess is the first work that Steinunn and Sveinbjörg collaborate on and shows a strong choreographic character from both of them. Drama and humor were carefully intertwined in a unique way, where the movement vocabulary, which can be attributed to the movement of the horse, were used to make fun of the feminine nature.” (Margrét Áskelsdóttir, Morgunblaðið)
